Business Analyst - Natural Gas - Overview - Contract Position in Houston, Texas A leading midstream energy company is seeking a Business Analyst with deep natural gas domain expertise to support the rollout of an internally developed gas accounting application across multiple assets. This role is highly visible, working across business stakeholders and IT teams to capture, document, and validate requirements for a critical enterprise system initiative. Key Responsibilities Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements for natural gas accounting systems Partner with internal stakeholders (Operations, Accounting, IT) to translate business needs into clear technical requirements Support implementation and rollout of an in-house gas accounting application across multiple assets Create and manage test cases, UAT plans, and defect tracking Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and ensure alignment with business expectations Track issues, bugs, and enhancements through resolution Produce clear documentation using MS Word and Excel Required Experience Strong background in natural gas (not crude/oil or power) Proven experience as a Business Analyst supporting gas accounting or related systems Ability to work closely with both business users and technical teams Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) Experience with Jira or similar tools for: Test case creation UAT tracking Bug/defect management Environment Stakeholder group of ~30–40 internal users across business and IT Fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on internal system deployment and optimization Onsite presence required in Downtown Houston (1300 Main St), Monday–Friday Interview Process 1 round: Video panel interview (Webex/Teams/GoToMeeting) Panel of 3–4 team members ~1 hour duration Additional Notes This is a hands-on, delivery-focused BA role—not purely documentation Ideal candidates will bring both domain expertise and execution capability in gas accounting environments
