Job Description
Job Title: Natural Hair Care Teacher / Instructor Summary Natural Hair Care is an experienced Hair Braider or Loctician with skills and knowledge to train students attending the school. In this role, you will be responsible for learning and adapting the course curriculum, teaching students the various hair braiding skills, setting tests, grading work, and mentoring students. To ensure success as a teacher, you should have extensive experience working as a professional hair braider or a loctician, a natural talent for teaching, you should have a passion for the beauty industry, remain up to date on the latest hair care trends, and good interpersonal skills. A top-class teacher takes a hands-on approach with their teaching, ensuring that every student gets the required knowledge they need to succeed in the hair braiding industry. You must be willing to cooperate with coworkers in a team environment, which is most conducive to learning and having a good morale among all staff. You must display a friendly yet professional attitude toward students and clients alike. Excellent time management is essential to the operation of a successful school as you may be required to do some business tasks. Duties and Responsibilities Prepare for class, presentation/teaching of curriculum. Create, develop, update new curriculum, classes, and workshop Ensure the curriculum that is being taught reflects current standards within the industry, i.e. preparation and research. Mentoring students and providing emotional support. Creating out lesson plans. Learning and adapting the course curriculum. Ensure safe and sanitary practices by both students and instructor when practicing hair braiding and related techniques. Attend scheduled meetings. To always project a professional image to internal and external clients. Maintain academic records and ensure continuous evaluation is given to students, e.g., student performance in theory, practical and clinical experiences. Teaching students the skills of the hair braiding trade. Overseeing and grading examinations and final practical tests. Providing course feedback to the school. Participate in special events, such as Career Fairs, student recognition and Professional Day. Ensure client satisfaction by effectively managing clinic floor, counseling, guiding students, and assisting in resolving students’ issues. Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the school. Provides information by answering questions and requests. Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories and evaluating new equipment and techniques. Notify management about items and supplies that need to be reordered for each course. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Proven teaching experience, particularly in adult education settings Strong knowledge of hair braiding and loc techniques Atleast 4 years of experience being a hair braider or locticain Proficient in Microsoft Office and possess excellent organizational skills Effective communication and leadership abilities Time management and analytical skills to enhance classroom learning Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour Benefits Professional development assistance Experience: Loctician: 4 years (Preferred) Teaching: 1 year (Required) Hair Braiding: 3 years (Preferred) License/Certificat
