02-Administrative/Non-Instruct Position Network Engineer Facility Information Technology Services (ITS) Location DeLand, FL Category OTHER PROFESSIONAL STAFF – NONADMINISTRATIVE/NONINSTRUCTIONAL Classification 02-Administrative/Non-Instruct Posting Number D3300008 Date Posted 05/08/2026 Closing Date 05/28/2026 Job Description POSITION GOAL Configure, install, repair, and maintain district network infrastructure to ensure system availability and reliability for staff, students, and the community PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES *Maintain network systems for optimum performance. *Help maintain network security systems in compliance with division standards. *Maintain internet connectivity for the local and wide area network. *Install network hardware, software, and telecommunications services. *Monitor network traffic and assist with performance assurance. *Assist with the installation of vendor-supplied modifications/patches/upgrades. *Assist with the maintenance of Voice-Over Internet Protocol (VOlP) software/hardware. *Collect network traffic statistics for reporting purposes. *Assist in the installation, maintenance and tuning of local and wide area networks. *Provide technical support for LAN and WAN network issues. *Work within the division’s established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure. *Maintain written documentation for network and voice infrastructure, systems, logs, and standard operating procedures. Manage special projects as assigned. *Keep current with hardware and software technology through education courses and self-study. *May require being on call to resolve technical difficulties on a 24/7 basis. Denotes essential job function/ADA Position Summary Position Code: 330205117 School/Site: Deland Hours: 8 Months: 12 Required Qualifications/Certifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Associate Degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience, current CCNA certification preferred. Two (2) years experience working with networking infrastructure, preferably Cisco. Experience working in an educational environment preferred. Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License; if a holder of any other valid US state-issued Driver’s License, agree to acquire a Florida Driver’s License within thirty (30) days of employment, except in a case where accommodation is required. Must be able to operate school board vehicles, when assigned, in accordance with operational procedures and School Board Policy 505. REQUIRED SKILLS Knowledge of network based operating systems and telecommunications fundamentals. Ability to work as a team member in assistance to Senior and Lead Network Engineers to become familiar with the district’s distinctive network configurations and architecture. Ability to configure and install current standard wireless network access points. Ability to troubleshoot network failures. Ability to monitor network performance and recognize problems. Ability to work flexible schedules in a variety of environments, independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of local area networking (LAN) and wide area networking (WAN), including routers, switches and data line installation and support. Basic knowledge of the open systems interconnection (OSI) reference model as it applies to LAN and WAN protocols. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation.
