Mondays in-person or remote Wednesdays in-person clinic mandatory Fridays in-person or remote The Division of Trauma/Critical Care Surgery is hiring a part-time ambulatory nurse for our elective general surgery practice (Purple Surgery). This hybrid role supports clinic and perioperative operations by managing the MyChart inbox, ordering imaging (including CT scans), coordinating pre-certifications, screening and scheduling patients, ensuring completion of labs and pre-operative work, retrieving outside imaging, preparing provider schedules, and assisting with Wednesday clinic visits (rooming patients and obtaining vital signs). The position includes 16 hours of in-person work per week (with 8 hours on Wednesdays required for clinic) and 8 hours of remote work. Preferred candidates will have prior surgical experience, including familiarity with surgical clearance processes, imaging requirements, surgical disease and post-operative care, post-operative follow-up coordination, and the ability to communicate effectively with insurance providers regarding authorizations and coverage. The Nurse Clinician will work in a multidisciplinary environment which will require exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, physicians, clinical and administrative units. This position will utilize nursing skills to perform patient assessments via phone or in person and implement nursing interventions; as such the ability to use appropriate judgment, independent thinking and creativity when resolving patient care issues. Also responsible for initiating & organizing patient education for the population this unit serves. Responsibilities: Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations. Report deficiencies to supervisor immediately. Assist in rectifying deficiencies as requested. Assume responsibility for and supervision of the appropriate care of medical equipment. Provide pre-attending care for patients. For each patient, perform a comprehensive assessment of the chief complaint and patient needs utilizing the nursing process.
