Position: Nurse Practitioner (PRN) Location: Simpson General Hospital – Emergency Department Schedule: Varies (PRN) Reports To: Chief of Staff / Medical Director Why Join SGH? Work in a collaborative, patient-centered environment Provide autonomous, high-impact care Be part of a team that values compassion, quality, and community Position Overview As a Nurse Practitioner in our Emergency Department, you will play a critical role in delivering fast-paced, life-saving care. You will assess, diagnose, and treat patients while educating them on their health-ensuring every individual receives the highest standard of care. This role also includes delivering care through telehealth platforms, requiring strong virtual communication and clinical decision-making skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop treatment plans Order diagnostics, prescribe treatments, and coordinate referrals Provide care via telemedicine platforms as needed Collaborate with ER physicians and healthcare team members Monitor patient progress and respond to changes in condition Maintain accurate, timely documentation Participate in quality improvement and continuing education initiatives Deliver compassionate care with excellent bedside manner Maintain effective communication with peers, staff, physicians, and administration Follow all hospital policies, procedures, infection control, and safety guidelines Perform other duties as assigned Education and Experience Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program Two (2) years of Emergency Department nursing experience preferred License and Certification Requirements Current Mississippi Nurse Practitioner licensure (Family, Adult, or Acute Care) Prescriptive authority through the Mississippi Board of Nursing and DEA Telemedicine Certification (Required) UMMC TelEmergency Program (Required) BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Professional, friendly demeanor with strong bedside manner Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure Working knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, and safety guidelines Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physical Requirements The Nurse Practitioner must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, bend and move freely, use hands to handle equipment, communicate clearly, and observe details at both close and moderate distances.
