Job Description
JOB SUMMARY The Nurse Practitioner at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in clinic and long-term care settings under the direction of a physician preceptor. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients while providing education on health, disease processes, and wellness to patients and their families. The Nurse Practitioner must demonstrate strong clinical competence, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently while adhering to established standards and regulations. JOB FUNCTIONS Patient Care Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients in the Clinic and/or Long Term Care setting according to the scope of practice outlined by the Board of Nursing, approved protocols, and national standards of practice as directed by the physician preceptor. Patient Education: Provides patients and/or family members with education related to the disease process, health, and wellness. Serves as a resource for community agencies as appropriate. Documentation: Ensures timely and accurate documentation of patient status and patient care activities including treatments, procedures, and medications prescribed. Continuing Education: Ensures clinical competence. Stays abreast of changes in medical management. Participates in a variety of health care education activities. QUALIFICATIONS Education Master's Degree In Nursing. Required PhD Doctorate Degree. Preferred Licenses and Certifications Work Experience 1-3 years Knowledge Skills and Abilities Excellent written and verbal communication required Maintains working knowledge of skills and current technology; required Interaction with a patient population of all ages ranging from neonates to geriatrics, required Responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients in the clinic setting Ability to work without close supervision Ability to exercise independent judgment in a professional area Must be able to organize multiple tasks Must maintain control of work flow Must have extensive contact with: patients, physicians, clinic personnel, family members and others Must display a professional demeanor at all times Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills Must reflect a positive, caring attitude toward clients, patients, staff and the public we serve Must maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines and regulations Physical Demands A thorough completion of this section is needed for compliance with legal standards such as the Americans with Disabilities Act.
