Job Description
Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our coaching staff as an Assistant Coach for the Oakville High School Boys Basketball team. This seasonal position offers an opportunity to work closely with student-athletes in developing their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach in implementing practice plans, fostering a positive team culture, and ensuring a competitive yet educational environment for all players. Responsibilities Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting daily practices, drills, and game strategies. Provide guidance and mentorship to student-athletes, promoting personal growth and athletic development. Help organize and manage team logistics, including transportation, scheduling, and communication with players and parents. Monitor academic progress and encourage student-athletes to maintain a balance between athletics and academics. Collaborate with the Head Coach in evaluating player performance and providing constructive feedback. Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that emphasizes respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Attend all games, practices, and team meetings, and actively participate in coaching discussions. Assist in the recruitment and retention of players, encouraging participation in the basketball program. Uphold and enforce school policies, rules, and regulations regarding athletics and student conduct. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance coaching skills and knowledge of the game. Requirements Previous coaching experience in basketball preferred, preferably at the high school or youth level. Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules of the game. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes. Ability to work collaboratively
