Job Description
Job Overview Premier Medical is the largest physician-owned and directed, multi-specialty group in the Clarksville-Montgomery County area. With more than 50 board-certified physicians and mid-level providers, we provide a wide range of healthcare services to families and businesses throughout the region. We are committed to providing comprehensive, quality medical care for patients of all ages. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled LPN to join our healthcare team in the OB-GYN department. The ideal candidate will have experience in a clinical setting and will help patients determine what type of care they need over the phone. When appropriate, the caller’s symptoms will be assessed and triaged using the nursing process and approved guidelines in order to assist in obtaining the appropriate level of care and/or self-care advice. Responsible for faxing referrals placed by providers to the appropriate offices and following up to ensure patients appointments were scheduled. Also responsible for prioritizing and coordinating referrals to the OBGYN Department. Duties Performs telephone triage / portal triage per established guidelines and documents accordingly. Assured communication with each caller will be handled in a professional and tactful manner. Listens to the patient’s concerns and symptoms to help determine the appropriate level of care required to safely meet the patient’s medical needs (Emergent, urgent, non-urgent, or home care) Responds appropriately to frequently asked department specific questions. Acts as a liaison between the patients and their provider. Schedules patients for testing procedures and appointments. Processes prescription refills as directed by the provider and communicates with the pharmacy. Documents and reports patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians. Helps with the clinical inbox of a provider or group clinical inboxes as needed. Reports test results and treatment directed by the physicians or nurse practitioner. 8. Ability to fill in Clinical Staff positions as needed. Understands basic insurance processes for scheduling specific appointments. Attends required meetings, in-services and participates in committee work as requested. Maintains patient confidentiality. Coordinates referral appointments ensuring the patient is notified and tracks patient compliance with referral appointment. Ensures that the patient's orders, pertinent medical information and demographic information is received by the provider we are referring to. Performs related work as required. Experience Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in an outpatient medical office using an EHR. Proven experience as an LPN in OB-GYN clinics or hospital settings with a strong understanding of women’s reproductive health issues. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment. Skill in taking vital signs and maintaining records and recording test results. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff and the public. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate clearly. Accurately and thoroughly document medical information. Ability to correctly spell, use appropriate grammar and punctuation. Licenses/Certifications: Valid state nursing license, BLS certification. Working Conditions: Exposure to communicable, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Physical Demands: Prolonged sitting . Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. May be required to help lift/transfer patients. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
