Job No: 539834 Work Type: Full Time Location: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL) Categories: Environmental/Occupational Safety Department: 71010000 - EHS-ENVR - HLTH - SAFETY-ADMIN Job Description Classification Title Environmental Health & Safety CDR I Classification Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience. Job Description: Assists with the administration of the Indoor Environmental Quality Program and Exposure Monitoring Program, to include site assessments, air sampling, exposure monitoring, preparing reports, and equipment maintenance/calibrations. Assists with administration of the Asbestos Compliance Program, to include inspections of asbestos abatement sites, and sampling of suspected asbestos-containing material to evaluate regulatory and safety compliance Assists with administration of the Respiratory Protection Program, including fit testing for respirators. Conducts occupational safety assessments for Housing and Facilities Services shops. Coordinates permitting and compliance activities for the Aboveground and Underground Storage Tank (AST/UST) Program. Support occupational safety training initiatives, benchmarking efforts, and safety-related data analysis. Operate UF/state vehicle as well as, other duties as assigned. Must have a valid Florida Driver's License. EPA: Asbestos Inspector Certification (Must obtain within the first year of employment) EPA: Asbestos Supervisor/Contractor Certification (Must obtain within the first year of employment) Normal Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 08:00AM to 05:00 PM 40 hours per week Travel to and from offices around campus Occasional travel to offsite locations. Expected Salary: $55,000 - $58,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience. Required Qualifications: Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience. Preferred: EDUCATION & TRAINING: Master's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or similar field EPA: Asbestos Inspector Certification (Must obtain within the first year of employment) EPA: Asbestos Supervisor/Contractor Certification (Must obtain within the first year of employment) Class A/B Operator Underground Storage Tank Certification Prior experience in Higher Education Experience: 3-5 years of work-related experience preferred Knowledge: Knowledge in occupational safety and IH Knowledge of federal and state health & safety regulations Knowledge of building construction and design Skills: Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft (MS) Office Abilities: Ability to work independently Ability to provide professional customer service Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships Physical Qualifications: Must be able to wear a respirator, if needed Position may require being in hot areas or outside in extreme temperatures, some climbing, walking, and bending at times.
