Job Description
UCHealth, a Colorado-based nonprofit health care system, is seeking an Occupational Therapist for our Acute Care team within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide patient-centered occupational therapy services to adult and geriatric patients with a wide range of medical, surgical, neurological, and critical care needs in an inpatient hospital setting. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team that includes physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, and other allied health professionals, you will complete timely evaluations, develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans, and deliver skilled interventions focused on restoring function, promoting safety, and maximizing independence in daily activities. Core responsibilities include performing comprehensive occupational therapy assessments; identifying functional deficits in self-care, mobility, cognition, and upper extremity function; setting measurable, patient-centered goals; and documenting all care clearly and efficiently in the electronic medical record. You will provide interventions such as therapeutic activities, neuromuscular re-education, ADL and IADL training, balance and coordination training, energy conservation strategies, splinting and positioning recommendations, and instruction in the safe use of adaptive equipment and durable medical equipment. You will collaborate closely with the care team to contribute to discharge planning, make recommendations for the appropriate level of post-acute care, and educate patients, families, and caregivers on home safety, ongoing therapy needs, and compensatory strategies. As part of UCHealth’s innovative, diverse, and inclusive culture, you will participate in quality improvement initiatives, assist in the orientation and mentoring of students or new team members as appropriate, and stay current with best practices through continuing education and professional development supported by the organization. The ideal candidate is a compassionate and flexible clinician who is comfortable in a fast-paced acute care environment, demonstrates strong clinical reasoning, communicates effectively with patients and colleagues from diverse backgrounds, and embraces continuous improvement in support of UCHealth’s mission to provide exceptional patient care. UCHealth offers competitive compensation and benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement options, along with ongoing training and opportunities for professional growth in a collaborative and supportive setting.
