Job Description
On-Site Support Specialist: Behavior, Mental Wellness & Instructional Support Position Overview The Montgomery County Educational Service Center is seeking a passionate and adaptive educational professional to join our On-Site Support (OSS) Team. This unique role is designed for individuals who thrive in collaborative environments and are deeply committed to supporting both student success and staff well-being. The On-Site Support Specialist works directly with schools to strengthen instructional practices, learning environments, and behavioral supports across a full continuum of student needs. This includes partnering with educators and teams to design, implement, and sustain Tier 1, 2, and 3 supports that address academic, behavioral, and mental wellness needs for all students. Rather than focusing solely on individual students, this role emphasizes building sustainable systems and practices within classrooms and schools. The On-Site Support Specialist brings a strong understanding of learning, behavior, and human development to support both preventative and intensive approaches - helping reduce barriers to engagement while promoting inclusive, supportive environments for students and staff alike. This position is ideal for a professional who is skilled at managing multiple initiatives, enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team, and is passionate about applying neuroscience-informed and relationship-centered practices in real-world school settings. Key Responsibilities Include Instructional & Classroom Support: Partner with educators to design and enhance classroom environments, routines, and instructional practices that improve access, engagement, and outcomes for a wide range of learners. Behavioral & Regulatory Support: Provide consultative and direct support to address student behavior, self-regulation, and engagement, including collaboration on individualized and classroom-based strategies. Mental Wellness Integration: Support school teams in embedding practices that promote resilience, emotional regulation, and overall well-being for students and staff. Systems & Framework Support (MTSS/PBIS): Work alongside teams to strengthen Tier 1, 2, and 3 supports by identifying patterns, aligning strategies, and improving implementation of academic, behavioral, and mental wellness frameworks. Environmental & Sensory Considerations: Assist in analyzing and adapting learning environments to reduce barriers and support regulation and participation for students with diverse needs. Staff Coaching & Capacity Building: Provide professional development and job-embedded coaching focused on instructional practices, classroom systems, behavior support, and adult wellness to ensure sustainable impact. Collaboration & Project Management: Contribute to team-based initiatives while managing multiple school partnerships, ensuring coordinated and responsive support for students, staff, and families. Inclusive Practices & Advocacy Promote equitable access and inclusive practices across settings while connecting schools with relevant resources and supports. Qualifications Licensure/Background: Valid Ohio educational license preferred (e.g., principal, teacher, Intervention Specialist, school counselor, administrator, school psychologist, related services or related field). Core Skills: Experience with instructional practices, behavior support, and/or mental wellness strategies in school settings. Strong understanding of data-informed decision-making and multi-tiered systems of support is preferred. Professional Attributes: Ability to work across a continuum of needs, build strong relationships, and adapt to varying school environments. Skilled in problem-solving, collaboration, and managing multiple priorities. Communication: Ability to translate knowledge into clear, practical strategies for educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Position Details Location: Montgomery County Educational Service Center - Site determined by student and district needs Start Date: August 1, 2026 Contract: 200 days (prorated based on start date) Salary: Commensurate with experience, aligned with the approved salary schedule Join Our Team Join a dynamic team committed to strengthening instructional environments and supporting students across a full continuum of needs - behavioral, developmental, and mental wellness - so that every student can access learning and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
