Position Description The Operator position plays a critical role in ensuring overall project success by serving as the primary operator of small and large equipment on a daily basis at an assigned job site. The ideal candidate works safe, takes initiative, is organized and detail oriented, and is willing to assist with all assigned project tasks. Essential Responsibilities Primary operator for smaller equipment. Handle daily operation of lull, manlift, and skid steer. Responsible for equipment checklist, maintenance, and rigging. Complete pre-task inspection of equipment. Load and unload equipment from transport trailers. Operate various equipment around and near other equipment and employees without conflict. Use equipment to handle, transport, load, and place extremely heavy objects and materials. Perform various manual labor tasks as necessary for the performance of work. Grease and fuel equipment if necessary and keep records of equipment hours. Proactively identify safety risks and hazards on the job site. Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling materials and storing them properly, picking up and removing all tools and equipment when not in use, and securing the job site on a daily basis. Follow project instructions from superintendent and/or foreman. Ensure regulated and proper headgear, gloves, safety glasses, and clothing are worn. Operate and carry out job duties in accordance with FHG’s Core Values and Code of Ethics. Position Requirements High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred. At least one year of construction experience. Experience operating light and heavy equipment preferred. Experience with 100% travel away from home preferred. General knowledge of construction and ability to read plans. Strong attention to detail. Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills with all levels of management. Able to work independently or as an active member of a team. Able to work in a standing position for extended hours. Comfortable climbing tall ladders, working at heights, and working in confined spaces. Possess a valid state or federal ID. Ability to pass a background check and obtain a TWIC card. NCCCO training for BT and RT crane (classroom and hands-on).
