Overview Join our dynamic team as an Optical Laboratory Manager, where you will lead and oversee the daily operations of our optical laboratory and train staff. This role is vital in ensuring the production of high-quality lenses and optical components, maintaining strict adherence to industry standards, and delivering exceptional service to our retail partners and customers. As a key leader, you will manage laboratory staff, optimize workflows, and uphold rigorous quality assurance protocols to drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Supervise all laboratory activities, including lens fabrication, edging, coating, and assembly processes, ensuring precision and efficiency. Manage laboratory staff by providing training, guidance, and performance feedback to foster a skilled and motivated team. Implement and maintain compliance with ANSI standards and other relevant regulatory requirements to guarantee product safety and quality. Oversee quality assurance protocols by conducting regular inspections, audits, and testing to uphold the highest standards of optical accuracy. Coordinate with retail sales teams to ensure timely delivery of lenses and optical products that meet customer specifications. Maintain detailed records of laboratory processes, equipment calibration, inventory levels, and compliance documentation for audit purposes. Skills Extensive knowledge of ophthalmology principles, including anatomy and physiology related to vision correction. Proven experience in laboratory management within an optical or ophthalmic setting. Strong understanding of ANSI standards for medical device quality management systems. Proficiency in laboratory procedures such as lens edging, coating application, and other optical manufacturing techniques. Familiarity with CNC machinery, particularly CNC lathes used in lens fabrication. Solid background in optical experience combined with anatomy knowledge for precise lens fitting. Retail sales experience coupled with excellent sales skills to support customer-facing interactions when necessary. Ability to implement quality assurance measures effectively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
