Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting eyewear that fits their prescription, lifestyle, and aesthetic preferences, providing expert advice on frames, lenses, and coatings. Take precise measurements for lens prescriptions, including pupillary distance and frame fitting parameters, ensuring optimal visual outcomes. Maintain detailed medical records in electronic health record (EHR) with accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage retail sales of eyewear products by applying retail math principles, upselling appropriate accessories or lenses, and maintaining inventory levels. Support medical billing processes by understanding medical coding related to optical services and ensuring proper documentation for insurance claims. Assist in training new staff on optical experience procedures, retail management practices, and clinic protocols to foster a collaborative team environment. Experience Prior experience working within ophthalmology or optometry clinics is highly preferred; familiarity with clinic workflows enhances your effectiveness. Experience using EMR systems Background in retail sales or retail management helps deliver excellent customer service while managing product inventory effectively. Understanding of medical billing procedures including coding for optical services ensures smooth insurance processing. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards is essential for safeguarding patient information at all times. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
