POSITION TITLE:Optician REPORTS TO (TITLE):Clinic Manager or Site Director Job Summary:The Optician will work closely with our patients and Optometrist, assisting them in selecting eyeglasses, measuring, fitting lenses, and providing advice on eyewear products according to written optical prescriptions.Hourly Range:$23.55 - 28.11 DOE Duties and Responsibilities:Maintain an organized and welcoming environment for patients.Assist patients in selecting the right frames and lenses based on their prescription, lifestyle, and preferences.Accurately adjust/fit eyewear with attention to detail, ensure finished eyewear meets standards & patient needs.Provide accurate fittings for eyewear and educate patients on proper care and maintenance.Dispense, adjust, and repair eyewear.Collaborate with optometrists to ensure prescriptions are accurate and fulfill patients' needs.Assist with administrative tasks such as insurance billing, processing glasses orders, processing payments, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient records.Order and track optical prescriptions.Ensure that all logs, forms, records, and charts are complete, thorough and accurate.At the direction of the Clinic Manager or Site Director, support with the following:Inventory, ordering, and pricing of frames.Inventory and ordering of accessories, cases, pharmaceuticals.Maintaining the lab and dispensary inventory.Ordering supplies for the dispensing area.Documents all medical information in appropriate fields in electronic health record (EHR).Contact patients to remind them of and confirm appointments.Document and sign all clinical support tasks in the EHR.Check EHR messages and follow up appropriately.May provide health education to patients, including but not limited to self-care and instruct patient as directed by the Optometrist.Follow up with patients regarding eye health and prescription issues as needed.Take lens measurements, including but not limited to segs, OC's, vertex distance.Verify all optical prescriptions.At the direction of the Optometrist, enter lab orders for lenses and frames through online designated online portal/s.Assist Optometrist as needed.Follows all SRCH policies & procedures.Participate in ongoing training.Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent.Certification from an accredited optician program is a plus but not required.Knowledge of optical products, lenses, and frame selection required.Optical dispensing experience required.REQUIRED FOR CERTIFIED OPTICIAN:Certified Optician by State of California through certification examination.Certification must be maintained.Proof of current certification must be provided for personnel records.Experience:Previous experience as an optician is required.Knowledge of optical products, lenses and frame selections.Experience with electronic health records preferred.Knowledge and Skills:Strong communication skills and a passion for delivering excellent customer service.Fluency in English and Spanish (speak, read and write) required.Demonstrated computer/keyboard proficiency and Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint as evaluated by skills testing.Demonstrates knowledge of compliance issues within the community clinic environment.Demonstrates a willingness to report any incident that is unusual or incompatible with accepted clinic procedures.Complies with HIPAA policies.Strong interpersonal skills.Ability to be sensitive with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects, work relatively independently and meet deadlines.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.SRCH is an equal opportunity employer to all, regardless of age, ancestry, color, disability (mental and physical), exercising the right to family care and medical leave, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, marital status, medical condition, military or veteran status, national origin, political affiliation, race, religious creed, sex (includes pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and related medical conditions), and sexual orientation.Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to do the following:Use standard office equipment and access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.Use computer keyboard with manual and finger dexterity and wrist-finger speed sufficient to perform repetitive actions efficiently for extended periods of time.Communicate effectively in person or via telephone in a manner which can be understood by those with whom the person is speaking, including a diverse population.Give and follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail and accuracy.Perform complex mental functions; collect, interpret, and/or analyze complex data and information.Vision:s
