Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Insurance Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding, and insurance verification processes. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate processing of insurance claims and maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. The Insurance Specialist will work closely with medical and dental offices to facilitate effective communication between patients, providers, and insurance companies. Responsibilities Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to appointments. Process and submit insurance claims accurately using ICD-10 coding. Review medical records for completeness and accuracy to support claims submission. Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status, denials, and appeals. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies, procedures, and regulations. Assist in resolving billing discrepancies and patient inquiries related to insurance. Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure proper documentation for insurance purposes. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations in all aspects of patient information handling. Requirements Proven experience in a medical office or dental office setting preferred. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding practices. Familiarity with insurance verification processes and procedures. Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for managing patient information. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives. Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality. Previous experience handling medical records is a plus.
