Job Description
Optometry Technician Wander Staffing seeks to add one (1) Optometry Technician to our team ASAP. This position is located in the Department of Optometry, San Antonio Military Medical Center, JBSA Fort Sam Houston, Texas 78234. Duties may include work at either the Jennifer Moreno Clinic (JMC) or the McWethy Troop Medical Clinic (TMC). Location : Department of Optometry, San Antonio Military Medical Center, JBSA Fort Sam Houston, Texas 78234. Type : Full-time Start Date : ASAP (The credentialing/privileging process takes between 30-45 days) Pay $28.12/hr W2 PTO for vacations and sick time 11 paid federal holidays Medical and Dental plans, if desired Schedule : M-F: 6:00 AM 3:00 PM Up to a 40-hour week, excluding federal holidays and training holidays. 60 minutes for an unpaid lunch break. Qualifications and Requirements: Successfully completed a program for Optometry Technicians BLS One year of experience is preferred Valid Driver’s License Must be able to pass criminal history background check Duties: Perform a wide range of optometric technician tasks in eye examinations and corrective procedures in support of the professional Optometry staff Interview patients to gather history on visual complaints, past eye injuries, and history of eye diseases Sets up equipment to conduct variety of diagnostic tests to include but are not limited to: lensometry; pupillary testing; PD measurements; color vision testing using the PIP color plates and red/green lens; depth perception testing using stereoscopic and stereo fly testing apparatus; screening and threshold visual field testing using the Humphrey Visual Field Tester and the FDT; obtains keratometer readings to include corneal topography; pachymetry; and performs posterior and anterior segment ocular photography using a retinal or anterior segment camera; oarlar coherave tomography, post & anterior.
