Job Description
Location:Oak Ridge, TN Job Title:ORMC Work Control Manager Career Level:Manager Job Specialty:General Quality What You'll Do Responsible for the successful support of nuclear and non-nuclear Y-12 missions in regard to the delivery of calibration activities.Responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, status reporting, and escalation of calibration priority and scheduled work activities.Responsible for providing direction on organizational goals and procedures for work control process of calibrated assets for the Y-12 site.Drives department implementation of Integrated Safety Management (ISMS) principles, Conduct of Operations requirements, Nuclear Criticality Safety, and other key plant programs into department-level procedure and practice.Ensure direct reports perform meetings and field walkdowns with customers and all applicable support organizations to accurately identify scopes, analyze hazards, estimate resource/material needs, and prepare technically accurate work control documents that deliver quality results and mitigate safety risks to personnel.Analyze and optimize calibration work schedules to improve efficiencies and equipment availability for Operations use, and establish methods for maximum utilization of resources.Assist in the development of priorities based on guidance from Production Operations, System Health, Projects, BOP Managers, and the Command Center.Report regularly upon planning and execution barriers encountered and will be responsible for developing/managing resolutions to overcome those barriers.Managing order and movement of materials, tools, and standards, follow-on actions for non-conforming assets, vendor calibration coordination, regular production demand forecasting, and inventory management of consumable standards.Assist in the development of department-level and site-level procedures implementing new/revised guidelines from key plant programs, as well as developed/improved manners of business that enhance efficient workflow.Participate in assessments to ensure requirements and regulations are properly adhered to.Handle all personnel matters associated with direct reports.Conduct/participate in interviews; hire or make hiring recommendations; establish goals and expectations; provide guidance on priorities; conduct personnel performance reviews and provide on-the-spot feedback; coach, counsel, reward, and discipline employees, as appropriate.Handle employee complaints and resolves personnel problems.Manage the performance of direct reports per organizational metrics analysis and backlog management to ensure continuous improvement within the group.Responsible for annual salary planning, promotion/adjustment recommendations, and award program solicitations/nominations (e.g.SRA, SOE, DP awards, Good Catch, etc.) Manage and mentor employees through direct and personal interaction, fostering a positive culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.Develop career paths and training programs to enhance employee skills and job satisfaction.Ensure personnel are trained and qualified to perform assigned responsibilities for high hazard nuclear conditions.What You Can Expect Meaningful work and unique opportunities to support missions vital to national and global security Top-notch, dedicated colleagues Generous pay and benefits with a stable organization Career advancement and professional development programs Work-life balance fostered through flexible work options and wellness initiatives Minimum Job Requirements Bachelor's degree:Minimum 7 years of relevant experience.OR 15 or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., High School diploma and 3 years nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).Preferred Job Requirements Must possess outstanding people skills with the ability to energize, organize, coordinate, and lead the team assigned to the ORMC Work Control group.Must be able to manage multiple tasks at once, have good organizational skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, sound decision-making skills, and the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management.Must be self-motivated and willing to take ownership of responsibilities.Current or previous supervisory experience Management skills to include technical oversight, effe.ctive planning and organizing, communication, interpersonal, fiscal responsibility, schedule compliance and an in-depth understanding of nuclear work control process and procedures.Work experience with DOE and/or NNSA Orders and practices.Experience in Work Control and/or Integration.Experience in Industrial Engineering, logistics, and/or lean manufacturing.Strong grasp of issues related to performing work in production areas to strengthen the interface between Metrology, Production Operations, and System He
