Minimum of one (1) year of counseling experience (at least 1,820 hours) in a health or human services setting, preferably in a drug and alcohol treatment environment. Candidates without prior experience in a drug and alcohol treatment setting must provide a written training plan outlining development of competency in chemical dependency counseling. Additional education or specialized training in human services or counseling fields related to substance use treatment is strongly preferred.
