Job Description
Mercy, a leading healthcare organization serving communities across the Midwest, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Outpatient RN to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in a fast-paced outpatient environment, supporting a diverse patient population across a range of medical specialties. As an Outpatient RN at Mercy, you will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, triage, and ongoing care coordination. You will perform patient intake, obtain health histories, monitor vital signs, and accurately document findings in the Electronic Health Record. Working closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team, you will help develop and implement individualized care plans that reflect Mercy’s commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include administering medications and injections, assisting with minor procedures, performing wound care, and providing patient and family education focused on disease management, treatment adherence, and preventive health. You will play a key role in managing patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart failure, and COPD, coordinating follow-up appointments, lab work, and referrals, and conducting phone or virtual outreach as needed to support continuity of care. Mercy fosters a culture of compassion, diversity, and respect, and you will thrive in a collaborative environment where your professional judgment and clinical expertise are valued. You will participate in quality improvement and population-health initiatives, contribute ideas to enhance clinic workflows, and uphold stringent infection-prevention and patient-safety standards. With opportunities for continuous learning, cross-training across specialties, and engagement in innovative care models, this position offers meaningful professional growth while allowing you to make a direct and lasting impact on patient wellbeing. The ideal candidate is a licensed Registered Nurse with strong assessment and critical-thinking skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for delivering personalized care in an outpatient setting. Comfort with technology, including EHR systems and basic telehealth workflows, is essential. In return, Mercy offers a supportive team environment, comprehensive benefits, and the chance to be part of an organization dedicated to improving the health of the communities we serve.
