Assists with the day-to-day operations to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation of the dock and salvage workforce to maximize profitability and increase training opportunities. Provides direction, job training, development, and support of dock and salvage team members concerning the proper and safe handling of goods, leading to increased revenues for GWH mission services funding. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Ensures alignment and consistency of all aspects of dock and salvage operations, including SOPs, Reference Guides, job descriptions, performance evaluations, observation checklists, production standards, training, Safety Program, and other documents related to DGP systems. Demonstrates professionalism and presents a friendly, cooperative attitude to the general public and all staff. Assist in the supervision of the daily activities of dock associates to maintain consistent processing of all materials, meeting production and safety standards. Supervises and assists with the coordination of after-market resale and salvage operations and ensures appropriate operational systems and resources are in place to generate maximum profitability. Helps to ensure that the promotion, collection, transportation, production, sales, and external/internal distribution of donated products, and related operational and sales activities are properly integrated to achieve maximum profitability and quality customer service. Helps to ensure the logistics with vendors for the sale, recycling and disposal of salvage goods (apparel, shoes, books, etc.); recyclable materials (cardboard, metals, glass, cellular phones, computers, etc.); trash; and hazardous materials; maximizing post-retail revenue opportunities and minimizing disposal costs. Assist with coordinating salvage sales and zero waste opportunities toward increased revenue and profitability, and to reduce waste and further GWH's green environment initiatives. Ensures hazardous materials are handled in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and GWH policies and procedures. Ensures all transportation/baler (forklift and operation of heavy machinery and vehicles) safety policies, regulations, and practices are followed to ensure accident-free driving and processing and minimize insurance costs. Ensures the safety and image of the truck yard, parking areas, loading dock, and salvage areas are clean, neat, and safe at all times. Coordinates loads and maintains accurate inventory control of goods. Ensure all trucks and trailers containing salvage goods are manifested and sealed upon receipt. After completing the GWH Train the Trainer program, conduct periodic training sessions for associates and strictly adhere to GWH's processes and procedures for forklift and electrical stacker training. Instructs associates in the offload and on-load methods and all other procedures to instill a service-conscious attitude and minimize service failures and injuries. Ensures that loading and unloading of vehicles are performed utilizing sound safety practices (i.e., lifting, use of equipment, etc.) and accidents are reported in a timely manner. Assist with register pulls, readings, cash reports, daily activity reports, transmittal of reports, and daily deposits in accordance with GWH policies and procedures. Responsible for the scheduling and productive use of the labor force. Assist in the maintenance and ordering of supplies. Assist in ensuring good stewardship of all donations, through proper handling and processing of incoming donations in accordance with GHW policies and procedures. Ensure store security and the safety of GWH associates and property according to policies and procedures. Assist the Outlet General Manager in complying with GWH's image and safety practices and procedures. Communicate with the supervisor regarding work requests (Facility Maintenance and Information Technology Support). Assist in the proper rotation of apparel and hard goods in a timely manner and in accordance with GWH policies and procedures. Keep abreast of merchandise knowledge, industry trends, and competitive pricing.
