Job Description
We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Packaging Manager to lead high-volume packaging operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing multiple production lines, driving operational efficiency, and ensuring all packaging activities meet production, quality, and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Production & Operations Management Lead daily packaging operations across multiple lines (powder, capsules, stick packs, pouches, bottles) Execute production plans aligned with material availability and customer demand Ensure output targets and efficiency goals are consistently met or exceeded Monitor line performance in real time and proactively minimize downtime Labor Planning & Workforce Optimization Manage and optimize staffing across two shifts (~160 employees) Adjust labor allocation based on production needs and volume fluctuations Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and shift leaders Maintain accountability, productivity, and cost control across teams Ensure compliance with cGMPs and standard operating procedures (SOPs) Equipment & Process Optimization Oversee performance of packaging equipment (baggers, bottling lines, stick pack machines, etc.) Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements or automation solutions Partner with Engineering and Maintenance to reduce downtime and improve reliability Support installation, validation, and scaling of new equipment KPI Tracking & Performance Management Track and analyze key metrics (efficiency, throughput, downtime, labor utilization) Develop dashboards and reporting tools to monitor performance Deliver daily updates and executive-level reporting Identify root causes of inefficiencies and implement corrective actions Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales teams Support production scheduling and capacity planning Communicate risks, delays, and operational constraints proactively Evaluate feasibility of new products and packaging projects GMP Compliance & Floor Leadership Conduct regular floor walks to ensure compliance with GMP, safety, and quality standards Enforce SOP adherence and operational discipline Address and correct deviations in real time Quality & Issue Resolution Oversee deviation handling and non-conformance investigations Support CAPA processes and continuous improvement initiatives Maintain high standards for product quality and regulatory compliance Strategic Leadership Analyze production trends and forecast operational needs Support long-term planning for labor, equipment, and facility expansion Recommend capital investments and process improvements Foster a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement Serve as the primary owner of all packaging operations Qualifications Required: High school diploma or equivalent Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, packaging, or production environments 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams and/or supervisors Proven success managing high-volume, multi-line packaging operations Strong knowledge of manufacturing KPIs (efficiency, throughput, downtime, labor utilization) Experience with production planning, capacity analysis, and labor forecasting Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for data analysis and reporting Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills Excellent communication skills across all levels Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred: Experience in GMP or regulated manufacturing environments Why Join Us Opportunity to lead large-scale, high-impact operations Fast-paced environment with strong growth potential Collaborative, cross-functional leadership exposure Ability to drive measurable improvements and operational excellence
