Job Description
Purpose of the Job: The Panel Shop Supervisor is responsible for coordinating, assigning tasks, and overseeing hourly employees to meet production requirements in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment. This role ensures operational efficiency, promotes team motivation, and drives continuous improvement. As a working supervisor, the position includes hands-on involvement on the shop floor. --- Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities (Include the following; however, other duties may apply.) · Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, OSHA requirements, and electrical codes (UL, NEC, and customer-specific standards). · Manage staff to ensure productivity, quality and alignment with client satisfaction goals. · Adapt quickly and make decisions to adjust plans/schedules to meet customer requirements. · Participate in and lead initiatives such as 5S, Lean, and Kaizen events. · Demonstrate strong leadership and employee motivational skills. · Handle HR-related issues, to include employee reviews, documentation and record-keeping. · Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, across all organizational levels. · Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance efficiency. · Establish and maintain weekly operator productivity metrics and monitor performance against established work standards. · Develop and maintain the weekly production schedule, proactively communicating potential delays or schedule risks. · Identify and report material shortages, equipment issues or supply issues in a timely manner to prevent production disruptions. · Provide coaching, feedback, and performance guidance to operators to support skill development and productivity improvements. · Establish and maintain a capacity planning model to support production planning and future workload forecasting. --- Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise production staff and group leaders to ensure smooth and effective operations. Ensure production output meets on-time delivery commitments and customer expectations. --- Qualifications Education and Experience · Associate’s or Technical Degree preferred. · 1-3 years of production experience, with a preference for candidates with prior supervisory or lead roles. · Experience with electrical panel assembly, industrial controls, or related manufacturing environment. · Strong understanding of electrical schematics, control panels, and wiring practices. · Experience with UL508A panel standards and industrial control systems preferred. · Proficiency in ERP systems, production scheduling and reporting. · Strong knowledge of MS Office applications for tools, analysis, reporting and presentations. · Understanding work standards, production processes, and manufacturing workflows. Skills · Strong leadership and team development abilities in a hands-on production environment. · Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and layout diagrams. · Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. · Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. · Ability to build positive relationships and foster team collaboration. · Aptitude for defining problems, gathering data, analyzing information and making logical conclusions. · Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining production and schedule commitments. --- Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
