Job Description

It starts with our people, which is why we need a Paralegal Assistant to join our team. Under the management of the Associate Director of Paralegals and working closely with paralegals and attorneys with respect to work matters, the Paralegal Assistant assists with all aspects of corporate and franchise work. The Paralegal Assistant will interface directly with attorneys, paralegals, clients, and legal staff and deliver high quality, efficient legal, administrative and billable services with an annual minimum billing requirement of 700 hours. You’ll be responsible for: Assist in the preparation, updating, and annual renewal of Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs) Coordinate state franchise registrations, renewals, and exemptions Track filing deadlines and maintain compliance calendars Monitor changes in federal and state franchise laws and regulations Prepare and maintain templates for franchise-related legal documents Assist in due diligence for franchise sales, acquisitions, and transfers Assist with Regulatory Filings Maintain records of filings, approvals, and correspondence with regulatory Track franchisee obligations and key dates under agreements Performing electronic research using internet-based research tools. Communicating regularly with team members regarding the status of projects and deadlines and informing attorneys and paralegals of any issues or concerns in meeting deadlines. Entering time and descriptions into timekeeping system and release time daily. Skills and experience required: Ability to manage and take ownership of numerous tasks and projects simultaneously in an organized manner. Analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail; must have good judgment. Ability to communicate internally and with external clients, vendors and service providers, professionally, clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing. Ability to work as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision. Willingness to learn. Ability to problem solve, think independently and handle projects with minimal supervision. Flexibility to arrive early, stay late or work weekends with little or no notice. Ability to regularly report to work on the days and times scheduled. Bachelor’s Degree required, Paralegal Certificate preferred. 1-2 years’ experience in corporate transactions preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PPT. Supervisory Experience: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment. In office position (not a remote position). Office located in Santa Monica, CA. Travel: No travel required. Pursuant to the California pay transparency laws, BCLP is posting a reasonable estimate of a compensation range for this position. At the time of posting, the estimated California range is $70,000 to $79,000. Actual compensation will be influenced by various factors, including but not limited to the level of relevant experience, skill sets, training, licensure and certifications, internal equity, market data, and other job-related factors permitted by law. The range is based on a full-time work schedule. Additional compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus. BCLP is an equal employment opportunity employer.
