Job Description
Paralegal Presque Isle, ME – Temp-to-Hire Opportunity Schedule: Full-Time/Days; 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday. Pay: $25.00 - $30.00/hr., depending on experience. Job Description: Immediate need for a Paralegal to join a respected law office in Presque Isle. This position offers meaningful, hands-on legal work supporting attorneys through all stages of litigation, along with a stable daytime schedule and opportunities for long-term professional growth. The Paralegal will provide administrative, clerical, and legal research support to the office’s attorneys. Responsibilities include organizing and reviewing case files, preparing and proofreading legal documents, conducting legal research, coordinating court filings, and assisting with trial and hearing preparation. The ideal candidate will have prior litigation experience involving Maine District Court and Superior Court proceedings, with experience in criminal and/or civil litigation strongly preferred. Responsibilities: Answer phones, greet clients, and assist with general front-office operations Draft, proofread, and file legal documents with courts and outside agencies Coordinate schedules, deadlines, hearings, and client appointments Organize case files, maintain records, and assist attorneys with litigation preparation Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel Conduct legal research and gather supporting case materials as requested by attorneys Job Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent education required; paralegal certificate required. Post-secondary education in paralegal studies strongly preferred. Previous litigation experience involving Maine District Court and Superior Court proceedings required. Background in criminal and/or civil litigation strongly preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software preferred. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced office environment.
