Parks & Recreation Aide - Caretaker The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is hiring recreation staff for the upcoming season.Currently DEC is seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join team DEC and become the Caretaker of the Hinckley Reservoir Day Use Area - 281 Stormy Hill Rd., Cold Brook, NY 13324.Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have one year of satisfactory experience in maintenance, construction, landscaping, or in a business operation.At least 6 months of such experience must be at the supervisory level.Must be at least 18 years of age and have and maintain a valid driver's license.Experience in a business operation must include responsibilities dealing with the public, customer service, and daily financial reporting and processing.Job Requirements/Duties This is a full-time seasonal position that is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Hinckley Reservoir Day Use Area.Candidates must have dependable transportation and be able to work assigned shifts.Must be punctual, reporting for work on time.Shift work may be required.Candidates should expect to work all weekends and holidays during period of employment.On-site housing is available.Must be able, where applicable, to do manual work in park such as picking up litter, raking, pushing lawnmowers, and cleaning restrooms and buildings.Candidate must be willing and able to clean toilets.Must be able to communicate with others and accept direction.All tasks are to be conducted in a safe manner, with any injuries/illnesses reported immediately to supervisor.Must be well groomed, wear appropriate attire, including work shoes, no sneakers.Issued clothing must be kept clean and worn regularly.Must be even tempered and capable of communicating with the public.Provides patrons with information regarding park facilities and use.Handles complaints or inquiries from park patrons regarding the quality of their experience, the cleanliness of facilities, noise from other facility users, and other related customer service issues.Must be able to handle and account for money and complete necessary Revenue Reports.Must be capable of operating a personal computer.Some positions may require additional credentials or a background check to verify your identity.Employment application can be found at:https://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/administration_pdf/s1000part1sept2018.pdf Applications can be submitted to:NYSDEC 9868 Hawkinsville Rd.Boonville, NY 13309 william.marsh@dec.ny.gov Inquiries can be directed to:William Marsh 315-942-2211 x204 william.marsh@dec.ny.gov Job Type:Full-time Pay:$24.13 per hour Benefits:Retirement plan Job Types:Full-time, Temporary Pay:$24.13 per hour Expected hours:40 per week Benefits:Retirement plan Work Location:In person.
