Live here, Work here, Play here www.santacruzcountyjobs.com THE POSITION: Park Services Officers (PSOs) serve as event staff on site during permitted events and weekend activities in County parks. PSOs greet and check in permit holders, provide facility access, explain site rules and expectations, and assist with event setup, monitoring, and cleanup. They help maintain a safe and welcoming environment by observing park and event areas, supporting visitor flow, providing customer service, and helping ensure compliance with County and POSCS policies. Responsibilities may include maintaining facility cleanliness, completing basic logs and incident reports, collecting fees when required, and reporting safety concerns or violations to supervisors or appropriate authorities. PSOs may also work in the Parks Office, providing office support to the Facilities team. Staff may assist with first aid and emergency procedures within the scope of their training and are expected to maintain a professional, helpful presence while working with event organizers, coworkers, and the public. This position requires flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and both day and evening hours, as determined by departmental needs. THE REQUIREMENTS: Any combination of training and experience which would provide the knowledges and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain these knowledges and abilities would be: One year of work experience which has involved interacting with the public in explaining rules or regulations, and tactfully dealing with hostile or angry attitudes; or two years of college level course work in park administration, forestry, public recreation, natural resource management, or a related discipline. License and Certificate Requirements: Possession of a valid California class C driver license is required at the time of appointment. Possession of valid Basic First Aid and CPR certificates within the first six months of employment. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Fingerprint and records check will be performed for all incumbents in this classification. Park Services Officers will be required to wear a prescribed uniform and conform to personal grooming standards. Park Services Officers will be assigned to various park locations, and will be required to work rotating or irregular shifts.
