SECTION A REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Knowledge of custodial practices, procedures, and techniques.Shows great initiative, with ability to self-start and stay motivated while working independently, or without close supervision; Ability to assess custodial needs, and structure work schedule to accomplish necessary tasks Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information clearly Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize, manage workloads and maintain accurate detailed records Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, City staff members and the general public visiting City parks and facilities Must be able to understand and adapt to change and react productively to frequent interruptions and changing conditions Demonstrates ethical conduct and ensures safety and security in all aspects of work Experience operating a variety of hand tools, shovels, hoes, rakes, litter sticks and small power tools._______________________________________________________________________________________________ SECTION B EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School diploma, active pursuit of one or its equivalent is required Experience in grounds or facilities maintenance is desired General knowledge of, and experience using, general maintenance equipment is preferred _______________________________________________________________________________________________ SECTION C OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Must be 18 years of age by the start date of employment Must hold valid driver's license and possess a clean driving record _______________________________________________________________________________________________ SECTION D ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Daily opening or closing of facilities in all City parks Maintains restroom building interior by sweeping, mopping, hand washing of floors, walls, doors, windows, mirrors, and plumbing fixtures. Removing cobwebs, dead bugs from windows, counters, walls, ceilings, light fixtures, entry ways, roof overhang of buildings and pavilions. Sweeping, mopping and scrubbing shower curtains, floors, benches, stalls, and fixtures. Removing trash and transporting of materials to disposal areas. Hosing, pressure washing, mopping, sweeping, blowing of pavilion floors, walkways to/from buildings and pavilions. Setup and cleanup for pavilion reservations or special events. Maintains continuity between areas by documenting cleaning actions; noting areas requiring additional care or monitoring.Provide customer service to park visitors.Assist with landscaping duties including mowing, weed whipping, pulling weeds, raking and clearing fallen trees and branches.Other duties as assigned._______________________________________________________________________________________________ SECTION E SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY None _______________________________________________________________________________________________ SECTION F OTHER SPECIAL DUTIES Work may be assigned to assist other divisions of Public Works in various duties as the need arises._______________________________________________________________________________________________ SECTION G PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Physical Requirements:Ability to stand for long durations and walk over uneven terrain over varying distances Adequate vision is required to operate a motor vehicle Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Work Environment: Most duties are performed outdoors under periodically disagreeable working conditions, sometimes in adverse weather, working near the lake, exposed to water, mud, sand, dust, dirt, grease; may be exposed to paint fumes, exhaust fumes, equipment noise and vibration and dampness. Protective clothing and footwear and/or PPE may be required. There may be exposure to spiders, bees/wasps and other insects. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens is possible during trash removal and litter pickup._______________________________________________________________________________________________ SECTION H EQUIPMENT OR MACHINERY USE Requires use of a one-ton motor vehicle, cellular phone, weed eater, and equipment such as gas-powered leaf blower, pressure washer, hand tools, mops, brooms, rakes and litter pickup tools.Additional general office equipment used includes:personal computer, two-way radio and office telephone system._______________________________________________________________________________________________ SECTION I WAGE SCHEDULE, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Work Schedule:Work schedule may vary to cover closing shifts Monday through Friday.Closing shifts cover 2:00 P.M.to 10:0
