Part-Time Administrator - SSD Retiree REPORTS TO: SSD Administrator JOB DESCRIPTION LINK POSITION OVERVIEW The primary responsibility of a Part-time Administrator is the management of the Special Education processes, programs, and the supervision of staff. Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and implements the operations and programs in a defined area under the direction of the SSD Administrator. You must have worked previously as an administrator at SSD to apply for this position. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises, observes and evaluates the performance of staff members who report to this position Collaborates with partner districts in the screening, interviewing, and recommendation of teacher-level and paraprofessional staff Works effectively with staff to use data to plan, supervise, evaluate and revise instructional programs to meet students’ needs Collaboratively plans and provides in-service programs for parents/families/guardians, staff and partner district personnel Facilitates and supports ongoing professional learning of staff members through coaching and feedback Provides leadership and direction to staff within the area of supervision Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development, keeps current with relevant literature and new research findings, and attends appropriate professional meetings and conferences Responsible for the professional growth and evaluation of teacher-level and paraprofessional staff Collaborates with Special Education Directors and partner district staff to implement procedures related to the Comprehensive School Improvement (CSIP)/Rolling Plan, Assurance Document, Partnership Agreement, and the District’s vision, mission, core values and standards of excellence Assists Special Education Directors in developing and monitoring a budget for an assigned area Ensures instructional information materials and resources are accessible for staff and appropriate to meet instructional needs Collaborates with partner district administrators, SSD administrators, parents/families/guardians, staff and students for program development, problem solving and conflict resolution Communicates effectively with students, parents/families/guardians, staff and community agencies, and partner district administrators Provides effective leadership and collaboration within assigned partner districts and schools to enhance and support student achievement Ensures compliance with District procedures, state, and federal laws; identifies areas of need and works with Special Education Directors to develop and implement programs to address those needs Assists with the preparation of federal, state and local reports on Special Education under the direction of the Special Education Director Responsible for collecting and maintaining accurate data as required by the District Implements District policies, regulations and procedures to ensure compliance with Board policies and regulations as well as state and federal laws and guidelines Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience Master’s degree in special education and/or school administration is preferred Minimum of five years of special education teaching experience preferred Previous experience in school administration is preferred Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Missouri DESE special education teaching certification is preferred Missouri DESE special education administrator certification is preferred ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one and before groups. Mathematical Skills Ability to collect and graph skill programming and behavior data, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and percentages. Reasoning Ability Ability to problem-solve and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and/or oral diagram form. Physical Requirements While performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, stand, move and walk at a brisk pace, sit, and use hands and arms to handle, feel and reach.
