Remote | Starting at ~5 hours/week | Opportunity to grow quickly We are a growing small-business bookkeeping and finance company looking for a reliable, detail-oriented contractor to support client work and internal operations. This role will start at approximately 5 hours per week , with the expectation that it could grow quickly into a larger part-time or full-time opportunity for the right person. This will be the first hire in a fast-growing business , and the person in this role will work directly with the founder . It is a great opportunity for someone who wants hands-on exposure to how a growing company operates behind the scenes and wants to grow alongside the business. This is a strong fit for someone who already has some bookkeeping experience and is looking to level up their career, or for an ambitious recent graduate who wants hands-on exposure to small businesses, financial systems, and client operations. What you’ll help with Tasks will be assigned and reviewed directly by me, and may include: Bookkeeping support Transaction categorization and reconciliations Client invoicing Client onboarding support Organizing financial documents and records Following up on client requests and missing information Data entry and administrative finance tasks Other small-business finance and operations tasks as needed What I’m looking for Strong attention to detail Organized and dependable Comfortable learning new systems and processes Good written communication Interested in small businesses, finance, bookkeeping, or operations Comfortable handling confidential financial information professionally Able to follow directions carefully and ask good questions Able to work independently and make progress even when every step is not spelled out Resourceful and proactive when solving problems Able to work through issues thoughtfully and bring organized questions when needed rather than getting stuck Helpful, but not required Prior bookkeeping experience Familiarity with QuickBooks Online Familiarity with spreadsheets / Excel / Google Sheets Experience working with small businesses Accounting, finance, business, or economics background What this role is like This role will start small, but I am looking for someone who can grow with the business. In the beginning, I expect to assign tasks directly and provide guidance. Over time, I hope this person can take on more responsibility and become a bigger part of the company’s operations. Because this is the first hire, this role offers a unique chance to help shape the company’s systems and be part of the foundation of a growing business. I am very willing to answer questions and provide support, but I am looking for someone who can also work through issues independently, make progress without constant direction, and keep a running list of thoughtful questions for our next check-in rather than getting stuck. I’m looking for someone who is: driven excited to learn and grow detail-oriented proactive efficient interested in how small businesses actually work behind the scenes Schedule Starting at approximately 5 hours per week Remote Flexible schedule I do not expect traditional 9–5 hours. I want this role to work well within the schedule of the person I hire, as long as the work is completed accurately, efficiently, and on time. I am looking for someone who can log in when it makes sense for them and for the job, stay focused while working, and communicate clearly when needed. Some occasional overlap may be helpful for questions or check-ins, but I am not looking for someone to be online during standard business hours just for the sake of appearances.
