Part-Time Circulation Assistant

GENERAL SUMMARYTo oversee circulation for the library; and to provide effective and efficient customer service assistance to the public.SUPERVISIONGeneral supervision is provided by the Library Director and Assistant Library Director.This position is part-time, non-exempt through the City of Devils Lake (Equal Opportunity Employer).ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1.To follow all library policies and guidelines for circulating materials.2.Assist library patrons; responsible for all materials checked in and checked out properly; issue library cards.3.Collect library fines; issue receipts; enter data into the computer; count money collected and ensure that money is properly documented.4.Process requests for library cards including accepting applications, verifying patron information, and data entry5.Register and assist patrons at the public access computer workstations; instruct patrons in the use of the online catalog.6.Receive, sort, and distribute newspapers and periodicals.7.Maintain and update Community Room calendar.8.Work as a cooperative and supportive member of the library team (special projects as assigned).9.Provide the best possible customer service to the public.10.Additional duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS-Ability to provide excellent customer service to any and all library patrons-Ability to utilize computer programs to perform day-to-day job functions (specifically use of the integrated library system, email, and basic data entry)-Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time; some lifting may be required (less than 20 lbs)-Availability for evening and/or weekend hours EXPERIENCENo experience required.HOURSThe Lake Region Public Library is open as follows:Monday:9:00 am - 6:00 pmTuesday:9:00 am - 6:00 pmWednesday:9:00 am - 6:00 pmThursday:9:00 am - 7:00 pmFriday:9:00 am - 6:00 pmSaturday:10:00 am - 3:00 pmSunday:ClosedThis position offers 15-30 hours per week.Starting salary is $15/hour.Flexible hours available.Job Type:Part-time Pay:$15.00 per hour Benefits:Flexible schedule Education:High school or equivalent (Required) Ability to Commute:Devils Lake, ND 58301 (Required) Work Location:In person.
