Part-Time Dispatcher - Campus Police (Weekends/Nights) Salary:$27.98 Hourly Job Type:Part Time Job Number:Dispatcher 40 - 2026 Closing:2/28/2026 11:59 PM Pacific Location:Norwalk, CA Department:Dispatcher 40 - 2026 Division:Campus Police Description Equity and Diversity The District is strongly committed to achieving staff diversity and the principles of equal opportunity employment.The District encourages a diverse pool of applicants and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, age, religion, marital status, disability, or sexual orientation in any of its policies, procedures or practices.In fact, the college encourages applications from all segments of qualified people.Closing Date This position will close on February 28th, 2026 at 11:59 PM (or when 150 applications are received, whichever occurs sooner) College Profile Cerritos College is ranked 14th among the top 100 schools with the highest Hispanic enrollment in the United States by the United States Department of Education.We are a comprehensive community college for southeastern Los Angeles County.Communities within the college's district include Artesia, Bellflower, Cerritos, Downey, Hawaiian Gardens, La Mirada, Norwalk, and portions of Bell Gardens, Lakewood, Long Beach, Santa Fe Springs and South Gate.Cerritos College offers degrees and certificates in more than 180 areas of study in nine divisions.Enrollment currently averages approximately 20,000 students.Visit Cerritos College online at http://www.cerritos.edu.Department Profile CCPD is a full-service police agency, sworn to protect and support the students and staff of Cerritos College.The department has 11 full-time police officers, 2 command officers, 3 full-time dispatchers, and a host of college cadets who patrol the campus 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.Summary Performs communications dispatch and a variety of general office and clerical duties for Campus Police Services such as, but not limited to, response to emergency calls, completing paperwork for uniformed staff, parking enforcement, and assisting with incident reporting.Distinguishing Career Features The Dispatcher performs a range of general clerical and communications duties.This position requires a demonstrated ability to work with outside groups and complete an approved Dispatcher Course.Job Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities Receives calls by telephone, two-way radio, or signals via fire and intrusion alarm systems regarding emergency and other situations.Determines the priority and response for all calls.Contacts, informs, and dispatches Police Officers and others, as appropriate for the situations.Maintains two-way radio contact with all personnel on assignments, including campus Police Officers, parking attendants, custodial, and maintenance personnel.Requests outside assistance/mutual aid from local agencies.Orders ambulances and tow trucks or contacts other agencies for extended assistance.Receives, verifies, enters, and updates permanent information from campus police records.Enters information onto established data entry screens and programs.Assists in coordinating campus police and parking control activities with other District offices, faculty members, students, and others using District facilities.Initiates driver's clearance procedures on Employees as needed and coordinates with California Department of Motor Vehicles and their facilities to ensure employees meet District guidelines before driving.Receives walk-in guests and telephone inquiries from a variety of individuals.Initiates and receives telephone calls, provides information and resolves matters, or routes calls.Inputs information into relational databases, spreadsheets, or word processing tables for use in permit and key lists, location of staff, and other projects as assigned.Updates information and maintains data files.Accesses databases to extract information supporting special requests or research.Prepares, assembles, maintains and updates calendars, schedules, lists, manuals, directories, and handbooks for distribution and use by others.Distributes keys to appropriately designated staff.Documents users and maintains detail information such as location serial numbers, etc.Issues parking permits for staff, students and visitors.Prepares lists of permit holders and maintains files and statistics of citations.Forwards citations to other jurisdictions for action.Processes appeals.Maintains an updates a police dispatch log.Records data for police statistics.E.g., parking, training, thefts, medical calls.Registers visitors/students on campus who are required by the courts to be registered.Receives found articles and processes for property custodian.Assist with responses to external agency requests for background information.Receives and accounts for parking permit fees and background check and report fees.Prepares bank deposits.Follows up with accounts receivable/collections.Maintains currency of knowl
