Greenfire Farms is a renowned farm and hatchery in Havana, Florida specializing in the preservation of rare and exotic chicken breeds from around the world.Our mission is to be responsible stewards of these rare breeds, educate the public on poultry conservation, and ensure the continued vitality of rare and heritage chicken breeds.We pride ourselves on ethical breeding practices and work to maintain a diverse range of birds that are both beautiful and productive.Our farm has legally imported over 40 different chicken breeds into the United States and has worked with the Livestock Conservancy to bring attention to rare breeds and the importance of preserving them.Greenfire Farms is a main driving force behind making rare chicken breeds available in the United States.We have increased our flock sizes significantly over the last few years and our small team is interested in adding a few more chicken tenders to the crew.We are currently looking for a temporary part-time employee to work between 12 to 20 hours per week with starting pay at $15 per hour and the shifts would be scheduled from Monday through Friday.This position would end on October 30th, 2026.We are looking for someone who is a fast learner and detail-oriented.The main responsibilities will be, but are not limited to:collecting, washing, and sorting eggs, cleaning and organizing equipment we use during the hatching process (items like:tubs, trays, and bins), helping fold and prepare boxes that we use to ship chicks in, and also assisting with feeding and care of the chickens.We offer some flexibility in scheduling but we are looking to find someone who has availability in the afternoons between 1 to 5 on Monday and Friday at a minimum, so those days are a must.During the interview we can discuss what days and times would work best with your schedule.The tasks that will be your responsibility will be primarily outdoors so you must be comfortable working in the Florida weather.Please note that this is a farm, and candidates should be prepared for hands-on work in potentially messy conditions.Appropriate work attire, such as waterproof shoes and rain jackets, is recommended.You must also be able to lift 50 lbs and are comfortable working around chickens.Previous experience working on a farm or with chickens is not required; however, we do prefer candidates to have some level of experience working with animals before applying.You must also have reliable transportation.For biosecurity reasons if you have chickens or other fowl currently or you work or volunteer with chickens or other fowl, please do not apply.We do not want to risk transmission of disease to our farm.Thank you for understanding.Smoking is not allowed on premises, so if you are a smoker please do not apply.We will run a background check as well before your employment starts.We would love to have someone join our team who is interested in learning about the rare chicken breeds that we raise.If you think you would make a great fit and are interested in becoming a chicken tender, please send us your resume along with your preferred schedule!
