Job Description
Job Title:Bookkeeper Last updated:March 2026 Reports to:Executive Director Position Type:Part-time, hourly Position Description The Bookkeeper supports the day-to-day financial operations of our organization.Maintains accurate financial records, manages billing and invoicing, and ensures our financial data is current and well-organized.Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records using QuickBooks Online Record and categorize all income and expenses on a timely basis Process accounts payable and accounts receivable Prepare and send invoices to funders; track payment status Assist with monthly/quarterly closing and reporting processes (e.g., bank and CC reconciliations, payroll tax quarterlies, etc.Assist in preparing financial reports for leadership and board review Support annual audit or independent financial review preparation Maintain organized financial records in accordance with document retention policies Perform other bookkeeping or finance-related tasks as needed Qualifications and Requirements (Qualifications for the job under the Americans with Disabilities Act) To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Experience and Essential Skills Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a non-profit or small organization Proficiency in QuickBooks Online or similar Solid understanding of basic accounting principles (debits, credits, chart of accounts) Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation High degree of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines Comfort with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, particularly spreadsheets Solid customer service skills and ability to work in a busy environment. Self-directed and detail oriented, willing to take direction. Punctual, dependable and reliable.Preferred:Associate's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Experience with non-profit accounting and grant/contract tracking Experience with payroll Experience supporting management-level financial reporting or audit preparation Physical Abilities Able to safely lift/push/ pull up to 50 lbs., grasp, handle, manipulate items.Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.Able to communicate with others effectively, verbally and in writing.Additional Essential Skills Commitment to equity in service delivery and practice. We value and honor lived experience in all positions for our organization.Schedule & Compensation Hours:Approximately 10-15 hours per week; flexible scheduling available Work Location:2116 Main St, Ferndale WA- onsite first three months, potentially hybrid thereafter Compensation:$25-$30 per hour, commensurate with experience This is a part-time employee, non-exempt hourly position.Benefits are not included.Work Environment Office environment.Noise level is unpredictable.Busy, fast paced environment.Pay:$25.00 - $30.00 per hour Benefits:Paid time off Work Location:In person.
