Job Description
Position Summary The University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine is seeking a clinical faculty member to join our hospitalist practice at the large regional campus in Wilmington, NC. The role is primarily located at a community hospital in Whiteville, NC, with additional clinical opportunities at Betty Cameron Children’s Hospital in Wilmington. Candidates must be board‑certified or board‑eligible in General Pediatrics and will perform a variety of clinical duties including newborn nursery care, delivery room resuscitation, emergency department pediatric consultations, support of the ED and occasional inpatient admissions. The position also involves teaching and evaluating Family Medicine residents, UNC medical students, and UNC PHM fellows, and may offer leadership opportunities. This is a full‑time faculty position; part‑time employment may be considered. The appointment is open‑rank, fixed‑term faculty with an FTE ranging from 0.5 to 1.0, and is part of the UNC School of Medicine. The salary is competitive and aligned with national private hospital benchmarks. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Doctorate: MD or DO Pediatrics residency in an accredited program Board certified/eligible in General Pediatrics and/or Hospital Pediatrics Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Experience in medical education and/or contributions to academic scholarship.
