Job Title - PeopleSoft Payroll Lead Contract Duration - 6+ Months Remote Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end PeopleSoft Payroll implementations, upgrades, and support projects Provide functional and technical leadership across Payroll, HR, and Financials modules , especially within higher education environments Manage and configure Commitment Accounting , including labor distribution, encumbrances, and funding allocations Collaborate with stakeholders (HR, Finance, Academic departments) to gather requirements and translate them into scalable solutions Ensure compliance with payroll regulations, tax laws, and institutional policies Oversee payroll processing cycles, reconciliation, and reporting Lead system integration efforts between PeopleSoft HRMS, Financials, and third-party systems Drive system enhancements, performance tuning, and automation initiatives Mentor junior team members and provide strategic direction for payroll operations Support audits, data validation, and regulatory reporting requirements Coordinate with cross-functional teams for issue resolution and continuous improvement Required Skills & Experience 20+ years of IT experience with strong focus on PeopleSoft HCM/Payroll Proven experience as a PeopleSoft Payroll Lead Extensive experience in the Education / Higher Education sector Strong hands-on experience with Commitment Accounting (labor distribution, funding, encumbrance tracking) Deep understanding of Payroll processing, taxation, and compliance Experience with PeopleSoft modules : Payroll, Core HR, Benefits, Time & Labor Strong knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials integration Experience in system upgrades, implementations, and production support Proficiency in SQL, Application Engine, SQR, and PeopleCode Experience with reporting tools and data analysis
