The Pet Services Specialist at Patty Baker Humane Society Naples loves pets, loves people, and loves helping families find their future furry family members. You’re counseling the public about adoptions, reviewing applications, guiding visitors through the process, and providing first-class customer service as a front-facing member of the PBHSN team. This role is equal parts matchmaker, customer service pro, and animal advocate. SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION $17.00 per hour. Paid weekly. Friday - Tuesday, 8am - 5pm OR 9am - 6pm with a 1 hour lunch. You don’t have to be a tech wizard, but you’re not technology-averse. Computers, email, basic data entry, and learning new software are all part of the job. RESPONSIBILITIES Customer Service and Adoption Counseling: Work with the public to provide first-class customer service, including information about PBHSN policies, procedures, the adoption process, and other various information requested or necessary. Greet visitors and provide a welcoming, positive experience for every person who enters the shelter. Counsel potential adopters about responsible pet ownership, what it means to own a pet, the basics of pet care and training, and how to integrate a pet into their household. Provide behavior information and basic medical information to help potential adopters make good choices based on their family specifics. Answer emails, phone calls, and in-person requests from the public about pets for adoption, their specific behaviors, PBHSN’s adoption process, and our policies and procedures in a prompt, professional, and informative manner. Administrative Tasks: Follow up with PBHSN adopters at regular incremented timeframes to ensure that the adoptions are going well and that the adopting families do not require any additional assistance. Receive, load, and unload supplies, donation items, shelter gifts and other inventory items as received by the shelter ensuring they are all adequately stored and organized. Handle adoption fees, provide receipts and documentation, and perform cash box closing. Call adopters to inform them when their adopted pet is ready for pickup. Assists shelter operations with providing a clean and sanitary pet services area that is welcoming, clean and organized for customers and the general public. Additionally able to provide basic cleaning, dishes, laundry and other shelter tasks as assigned by shelter leadership. Retail Operations: Assist in building PBHSN’s retail program from the ground up, including merchandise selection, display design, inventory management, and sales tracking. Maintain an organized, visually appealing retail space that encourages purchases and supports the shelter’s revenue goals. Coordinate with vendors to restock merchandise and introduce new products. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills. Comfortable with computers and able to learn shelter management software (ShelterLuv). Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Experience in an animal shelter, veterinary clinic, or animal care environment is a plus. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
