Shift Overviews: 2****nd Shift follows a hybrid workflow with the first half of the shift mirroring retail pharmacy and the second half of the shift as a closed-door mail order facility. Responsibilities: 2****nd Shift Pharmacists: Communicate expectations during start of shift huddle in the absence of a Lead Technician. Serve as a resource to technicians in both problem solving and assignment of roles. Pre-check prescriptions before fill to ensure accuracy and appropriateness (PV1). Check of filled prescriptions according to legal and professional standards (PV2). Provide clear instructions to patients regarding medication use, dosage, and potential side effects. Train/mentor new members that join the team and provide regular feedback on performance and expectations. Guide staff at end of shift in preparing the facility for shift change to ensure the incoming shift’s team members start their day with a tidy and well-stocked workspace. Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate records of dispensed medications and patient profiles. Manage pharmacy inventory, ensuring medications are stored properly and securely. Comply with regulatory requirements and pharmacy policies. Ensure patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with healthcare laws. Research and Professional Development: Stay informed about new drugs, treatments, and medical research. Engage in continuing education to maintain licensure and expand clinical knowledge. Mentor pharmacy students or residents. Skills and Qualifications: Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school. Years of Experience : Minimum 1-3 years’ experience as a Staff Pharmacist Licensure: Active pharmacy license in Kentucky in good standing Core competencies include: Strong knowledge of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacotherapy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and accuracy in medication dispensing and patient counseling. Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team. Problem-solving skills to address medication-related issues. Proficiency in pharmacy software and electronic health records (EHR). Commitment to ethical standards and patient safety. Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation) : Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Ability to see, read and interpret hand-written and faxed materials Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. What’s in it for you: Competitive Pay: $65 per hour, negotiable based on experience.
