EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Description of Job: This position assists the pharmacists in the processing and dispensing of prescriptions, provide pharmacy services including medical supplies to the Colorado Department of Corrections clinical units. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Fill, dispense, record, and route prescription to the proper destinations under the supervision of a pharmacist;Assist with packing and repackaging of medications into blister packages including the operations of a pill packaging machine;Maintain medication stock levels; order, receive, and store incoming drugs and medical supply orders;Maintain records for stock medications and assist in processing medications returned from the clinical units;Utilize Pharmacy software to manage patient data, retrieve information, update drug files, and generate stock and patient specific medication labels;Provide information to Clinical Services staff on drug availability, uses, formulary status, dosage and storage conditions, and brand/generic conversion information;Maintain prescription files, update records of controlled and non-controlled stock drugs as required by applicable laws;Assist pharmacist with administrative functions;Train new employees in using the computer programs necessary to function as a pharmacy employee.
