Job Description
LifePoint Health is seeking a caring and team-oriented Physical Therapist Assistant to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will support our mission of making communities healthier by providing high-quality rehabilitative care in a hospital-based, non-urban setting. Working under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, you will deliver hands-on therapy interventions that help patients restore function, increase mobility, reduce pain, and safely return to their highest possible level of independence. As a Physical Therapist Assistant with LifePoint Health, you will carry out established treatment plans, including therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance and coordination activities, and the use of assistive devices. You will instruct patients in safe mobility, transfers, and home exercise programs, while closely monitoring their response to treatment and reporting changes to the supervising Physical Therapist. You will document all care in the electronic medical record in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring that services meet regulatory, hospital, and professional standards. This position is highly collaborative and patient-focused. You will work side by side with physical therapists, nurses, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate care and support positive patient outcomes. You will communicate clearly with patients and families, offering education and encouragement to help them understand their therapy goals and participate actively in the rehabilitation process. You will uphold infection control standards, maintain a safe treatment environment, and follow all LifePoint Health policies and procedures. LifePoint Health fosters a culture of respect, compassion, and community impact. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the health of the community we serve, particularly in a non-urban environment where access to quality hospital and rehabilitative services is vital. You will be expected to demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong ethical practice while managing your daily caseload, organizing treatment sessions, and assisting with scheduling and departmental workflow as needed. The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program, currently licensed or certified as a PTA in the state of practice, and holds current BLS/CPR certification. Previous experience in an acute care hospital, inpatient rehab, or outpatient therapy setting is preferred, but new graduates with strong clinical rotations and a commitment to learning are encouraged to apply. Candidates should be comfortable providing direct patient care on-site, including assisting with lifting, transfers, and mobility tasks within proper safety and body mechanics guidelines. LifePoint Health offers a competitive compensation package, typically including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement benefits such as a 401(k), along with opportunities for professional development and growth. This is a full-time, on-site position that requires flexibility in scheduling, which may include some weekdays, weekends, or holiday coverage based on patient and department needs. If you are passionate about patient-centered care, enjoy working in a dynamic team environment, and want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families, we encourage you to consider joining LifePoint Health as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
