REQUIRED EDUCATION : Graduate of Physical Therapist Assistant School accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association or accreditation pending. Valid California Certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant, or accepted for certification within six months from date of employment. Must maintain current CPR/ First Aid training certificate. Preferred qualifications Fluent in Spanish or be able to carry on medical terms, conversation in Spanish (highly preferred) Experience in outpatient orthopedics, geriatrics is a plus. Willing to train new gradautes or limited orthopedic and geriatric experience. Summary of Qualifications / Essential Job Functions Assess, plan, and implement individualized physical therapy programs to restore function and alleviate pain. Apply sound clinical judgment and academic knowledge in patient care. Administer therapeutic exercises, functional activities, and use of assistive devices and manual therapy (as needed) Provide treatments using physical agent modalities (heat, cold, TENS, EMS, ultrasound, traction). Supervise and direct exercise activities and therapy assistants as appropriate. Educate patients on treatment plans, risks, benefits, and alternatives. Accurately document care in EHR (WebPT) within required timeframes. Collaborate with the Physical Therapist to develop and update plans of care. Design and teach home exercise programs to patients, families, and caregivers. Communicate clearly and professionally in both oral and written form. Maintain confidentiality, safety, and infection-control standards. Ensure compliance with company policies and legal/professional regulations. Demonstrate organizational skills, flexibility, and effective time management. Build positive rapport with patients, families, and team members. Exercise responsibility, integrity, and discretion in all duties. Lift and move patients/equipment safely using proper technique. Display teamwork, multitasking ability, and commitment to quality care. Perform other related duties as assigned.
