Job Description
Job Overview Must have experience in Physical Therapy Collections/Billing! Established and Growing PT clinic with 2 locations in Staten Island, NY. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Physical Therapy Biller/Collector to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the entire billing and collections process, ensuring accurate coding, timely submission of claims, and effective follow-up on outstanding balances. Your expertise will help optimize revenue cycle management while maintaining compliance with industry standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to efficient patient care and financial health of the practice. Duties Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications to insurance companies and third-party payers. Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding accuracy for billing purposes. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly, engaging in effective collection strategies to recover outstanding balances. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payment histories, and correspondence with payers and patients. Collaborate with medical office staff to verify patient information, insurance details, and ensure compliance with billing procedures. Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to input data, track claims status, and update patient records accurately. Communicate clearly with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to resolve billing issues efficiently. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing and collections within a healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of medical coding including CPT, ICD-10, DRG classifications, and medical terminology. Familiarity with Physical Therapy office procedures and experience working with EMR/EHR systems. Understanding of medical records management and documentation standards. Ability to interpret insurance policies, explain billing processes to patients, and handle complex collection cases professionally. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in data entry. Knowledge of Physical Therapy billing regulations and compliance standards related to healthcare reimbursement.
