Reports To: Assistant Medical Director FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Function: Clinical Classification: Temporary, On-Call Schedule: Varies Monday-Friday Location: Onsite, position may be assigned to work at both IHC locations SUMMARY: Provides general medical, preventive, acute and chronic care, and treatment to patients in medical facility such as clinic, health center, or public health agency, under direction of Physician, by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The information in this job description indicates the general nature and level of work performed. Perform physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of Physician Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs Discuss cases with Physician and other health care professionals as needed to prepare comprehensive patient care plan Prescribe or recommend drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures. Refer patients to Physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment Institute referral and coordinate patient services to promote continuous comprehensive care at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. Incorporate into the plan of care provisions for the preventive measure to improve health status based upon individual, cultural, psychological, social and environmental factors. Provide information for the patient, enabling patient to make realistic decisions in solving health and related problems and ensure joint responsibility with the professional health team members for the outcome of the patient’s care Advise and counsel patients about normal developmental and maturational stages, and normal life crisis Identify and intervene in problems related to these areas. Collect and record data according to the problem oriented medical record system, assuring timely and accurate completion of data entry into patient records Provide support and counseling to patients with chronic disease regarding psycho-social, environmental, and physical well-being. Institute emergency medical measures in life threatening situations Assess and intervene in common developmental and behavioral problems of individuals in the family. Counsel men and women on available contraceptive methods and facilitate making the indicated birth control measures available. Monitor changes of patients with chronic disease Prescribe clinic drugs to the
