Job Description JOB SUMMARY: The Urgent Care Medical Director is responsible for enhancing the planning, overseeing, and directing of medical affairs for the NTX Urgent Care Service Line. This may encompass patient quality, patient safety, infection control, risk management, provider interviewing, clinical performance management, recruitment and facilitating internal relationships and alignment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE: 1. Evaluates and implements quality and efficiency improvement activities and effectively communicates changes. Monitors and optimizes urgent care access and capacity and works to improve wait times. Reduces ED utilization as appropriate through proactive management of clinical acumen and ED escalation protocols. Establishes and maintains strong communication and effective collaborative relationships with hospital and regional leadership teams. Consults Hospital Leadership on medical issues and operational problems affecting patient care. Aligns the views and goals of Urgent Care medical staff to the business objectives of BSWH. Ensures that medical staff practices are compliant with all applicable legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. Leads, guides and facilitates physician/APP relations, recruitment, credentialing and peer/chart review activities. Evaluates new developments in medical care and recommends new practices and procedures. Ensure collaborative relationships are maintained with APPs and supervising physicians. Maintain collaboration with BUMC Family Medicine Residency Program serving as attending physician for residency rotations in Urgent Care.
