Doctor of Medicine | Neonatal Location: Alexandria, LA Employer: VieMed Healthcare Staffing Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: Rotating Start Date: ASAP About the Position Neonatologist – Permanent Full-Time Opportunity We are seeking a highly qualified Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Neonatologist to join our esteemed neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) team in Alexandria, Louisiana. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to deliver comprehensive, high-quality neonatal care within a collaborative environment, supporting the health and well-being of vulnerable newborns. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert clinical care for critically ill neonates in a 34-bed Level III NICU managing a diverse range of acuity and complex cases. Conduct daily neonatal rounds, develop and oversee individualized care plans, ensuring the highest standards of clinical excellence. Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team comprising two Neonatologists and four Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs), fostering a supportive and collegial work environment. Support 24/7 in-house NNP coverage, supervising and mentoring the team. Participate in a balanced 7-on/7-off schedule, including home call responsibilities, to ensure continuous patient care. Manage newborn nursery rounds and care for inborn and transfer patients. Provide coverage for an estimated 1,500-2,000 deliveries annually. Support in-house neonatal patient management during transports led by the NNP transport team. Deliver evidence-based care aligned with current protocols and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Engage actively in clinical excellence and contribute to advancements in neonatal care through ongoing professional development. Qualifications: Must hold Board Certification or be Board Eligible in Neonatology. Valid medical license to practice in Louisiana or eligible for licensure. Residency within the immediate local area required; relocation may be necessary. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
