Doctor of Medicine | Neonatal Location: Roanoke, VA Employer: VieMed Healthcare Staffing Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: Rotating Start Date: ASAP About the Position Neonatologist - Practice Medical Director Position Overview: Join a distinguished healthcare team as a Board-Certified Neonatologist in a full-time, permanent leadership role. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to lead clinical excellence, quality improvement initiatives, and academic advancement within a high-acuity Level IIIB Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The NICU, affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, serves as a vital center for neonatal care, education, and research. The role is ideal for a dedicated professional committed to advancing neonatal health and mentoring future physicians. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert clinical care in a Level IIIB NICU with approximately 60 beds and over 625 annual admissions, utilizing advanced neonatal therapies such as high-frequency ventilation and nitric oxide therapy. Serve as Practice Medical Director, overseeing daily clinical operations, ensuring high standards of patient care, and evaluating provider performance. Lead and coordinate quality improvement and patient safety initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes and operational efficiency. Drive clinical innovation by developing new programs and expanding existing neonatal services in collaboration with hospital leadership and academic partners. Foster interdisciplinary collaboration by partnering with maternal-fetal medicine specialists, pediatric surgeons, and other pediatric subspecialists. Contribute to the academic mission through teaching medical students, pediatric and family medicine residents, and participating in Grand Rounds, simulation training, and educational programs. Mentor residents and junior staff in quality improvement projects, research, and scholarly activities, supporting the growth of academic initiatives alongside academic partners. Qualifications & Requirements: Must hold a valid MD or DO degree with Board Certification in Neonatology. Extensive experience in a high-acuity neonatal setting is highly preferred. Residency training must be completed locally; relocation may be required. Candidate must be able to work full-time in a permanent capacity.
