Job description COMP is seeking highly qualified and dedicated Licensed Physicians (MD or DO) to join our team as independent contractors. This is a 1099 position offering Per Diem, Part-Time, or Full-Time opportunities, requiring flexibility to float between our clinic locations. CANDIDATE PROFILE We are looking for a physician with strong clinical expertise and a background in high-acuity environments. Preferred Experience: Relevant work experience in an Emergency Room (ER) or a Workers' Compensation setting is a significant advantage. Specialized Knowledge: A distinct advantage includes deep knowledge of the procedures, regulations, codes, and other pertinent areas covering the Workers' Compensation system . Contractor Status: Candidates must be comfortable working as an independent contractor (1099) . MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The physician will play a critical role in overseeing clinical operations, ensuring quality patient care, and optimizing occupational health services for employer groups. Clinical Management & Quality Assurance Staff Oversight: Train and supervise medical staff to ensure accurate patient documentation, appropriate testing, and prompt, systematic diagnosis to optimize resource utilization and minimize lag time. Patient Care Guidance: Provide expert guidance on the treatment plans and follow-up care for all patients, particularly those under Workers' Compensation. Resource Utilization: Oversee the appropriate utilization of employee health services and resources, specifically as they relate to Workers' Compensation cases. Occupational Health & Compliance Injury Prevention: Evaluate, identify, and recommend proactive measures for preventive care and screening programs for employer groups to effectively reduce the risk of work-related injuries. Incident Investigation: Assist with investigations into incidents and near-misses to identify root causes, and recommend actionable steps to prevent future injuries and enhance worker performance. Regulatory Compliance: Oversee and manage required physical evaluation programs (e.g., DOT, OSHA, CDC) to ensure full regulatory compliance. Employee Support: Provide professional counseling for employees regarding general health concerns or required immunization matters. Licensure and Certifications License: Must be a fully licensed and registered medical practitioner with an active, unrestricted CA State License (MD or DO) . Certification: Must be DOT-certified or commit to obtaining certification within the first 30 days of contract commencement. Leadership: Demonstrate exceptional managerial and organizational capabilities, including the ability to effectively delegate tasks and support clinical staff.
