Title : Pilot Plant Building Technician Location : Racine, WI Duration is 5-6 months with possible conversion. (Must have a Bachelor degree for conversion) Description: REQUIRED EDUCATION High School Diploma or equivalent TOP 5 REQUIRED SKILLS 3+ years in a manufacturing or RD&E role OR Bachelor's Degree in a Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field 1+ years working with chemical raw materials in a laboratory or manufacturing setting Fork Truck License or Ability to Obtain a Fork Truck License Abililty to lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds TECHNOLOGY PROFICIENCIES: Microsoft Office Suite Excel, Outlook, Word Microsoft Sharepoint and OneDrive Experience with ERP software (e.g. SAP) PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES Bachelor's Degree in a Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field Experience in the Cosmetics, Personal Care, or Food Industry Experience in the Consumer Product Goods Industry Experience with Chemical Processing Strong communication and organizational skills JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Pilot Plant Building Technician role will support the Lifestyle Brands (LSB) Business Unit with SC Johnson. This role will assist LSB Engineers with raw material inventory management, material ordering for pilot batching and production trials, and will assist in pilot scale batching at the Building 69 Pilot Plant. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as experience handling hazardous chemicals ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES Manage raw material inventory for 300+ chemcials, both physically and in an electronic system. Organize and sort raw materials on shelves, including disposing of waste and expired raw materials. Update inventory in electronic (ELN) system as new chemicals come into the warehouse, and when materials are consumed. Scanning and electronically organizing Safety Data Sheets and Certificates of Analysis for all materials. Place Purchase Orders with vendors for new raw materials for pilot scale batches. Order as requested by LSB Engineers Order as needed as materials approach expiration dates Manage of inbound shipments of raw materials. Manage outbound shipments from the pilot plant (Trial samples, raw materials to External partners, etc.) Manage material ordering for any trials to external partners where procuring of materials is owned by SCJ. Assist LSB Engineers with Pilot-Scale Batching Prep raw material carts prior to batching, including any materials requiring heating and mixing. Materials may be in large containers such as drums or totes. Assist during batching, pre-weighing materials, measuring samples for QA, cleaning equipment, etc. Staging pilot scale equipment (tanks, pumps, heat exchangers) and verifying condition and functionality prior to use.
