Arrowhead Lake Community Association Job Description Job Title: Plant Laborer Department: ASC Reports To: Director ASC FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred) Experience: Minimum 7–10 years in wastewater management or municipal utilities, with at least 3 years in a leadership role Work Schedule: Monday- Friday time TBD. Full-time; ability to work flexible hours, weekends, and on-call Position Summary: The Plant Laborer supports the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facility and collection system. This role performs manual labor, assists operators with routine tasks, and ensures cleanliness and safety of plant grounds and equipment. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Assist in routine maintenance of pumps, blowers, valves, and piping systems under supervision. Clean tanks, basins, and facility areas to maintain sanitary conditions. Perform grounds maintenance, including mowing, snow removal, and debris cleanup. Safely handle and store chemicals; assist in chemical feed preparation. Support operators in sample collection and basic water quality testing. Operate small tools and equipment for facility upkeep. Inspect equipment visually and report abnormalities immediately. Assist with emergency response activities, including spill containment and backup system setup. Maintain accurate logs of cleaning and maintenance activities. Follow all OSHA and DEP safety protocols, including PPE usage and lockout/tagout procedures. Participate in training sessions for wastewater operations and safety compliance. Skills and Qualifications Ability to perform physical labor in varied environmental conditions. Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Able to push, pull, lift minimum 50lbs Physical Demands Must be able to lift and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds regularly as part of job duties. Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed. Must be able to use hands and arms for reaching, handling tools, and operating equipment. Ability to work in varied environmental conditions, including outdoor weather, wet or humid environments, and areas with moving mechanical parts. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and perform tasks safely. Preferred Certificates and Licenses Valid driver’s license. Ability to obtain PA DEP Wastewater Operator-in-Training status (preferred).
