Job Responsibilities York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State. The Plumber performs the following functions: Reactive Maintenance - Evaluate, repair, install, and maintain a variety of plumbing systems and associated equipment, fixtures, and infrastructure including domestic plumbing, sanitary waste, lift stations, restroom plumbing, pneumatic and natural gas piping. Project Work - Installs plumbing systems for project remodels or renovations. Installs and implements upgrades to plumbing equipment and systems on campus. Reviews & provides recommendations for plumbing design on construction projects. Plans layout and installation of plumbing materials and equipment, based on job specifications and governing plumbing codes. Estimates time, material, and labor costs for in-house project plans. Proactive Preventative Maintenance - Responsible for developing, implementing, and performing preventative maintenance on plumbing systems and equipment. Assist with overseeing service contractors in the areas of preventive maintenance and project work related to plumbing. Assists in the collection and recording of data for Code compliance, cross contamination devices, and Life safety. Lead Plumbing Technician - Assist facility and project managers with oversight of contractors installing or repairing plumbing systems. Leads other general maintenance employees assisting with repairs and installation of plumbing systems and equipment. Provides cross-training to employees performing journey-level plumbing work. General Maintenance - Performs and assists with HVAC, electrical, and general facility maintenance (in areas such as, carpentry, door hardware, and painting). Available to respond to maintenance emergencies occurring after normal business hours and on weekends. Minimum and Additional Requirements A high school diploma or equivalent and experience in the installation, maintenance or repair of air, water, gas or waste disposal systems. Five years of directly related work experience as a plumber along with general building maintenance experience. Must have a current, valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Residential Plumbing Licensed Contractor, Master Plumbing License, and/or Mechanical Contractor is preferred.
